HLFM Illustrated Talk: Seagrass and Society with Dr. Jamie Vaudrey

Meet Dr. Jamie Vaudrey! She received her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and works there as research faculty for the Department of Marine Sciences. Her research focuses on human impacts on coastal ecosystems, so she had a lot to say about Fishers Island seagrass in her talk on Sunday, August 14.

The Henry L. Ferguson Museum invited Dr. Vaudrey to speak about how humans have been impacting and interacting with seagrass.

Her engaging and informative speech told us about the history of Fishers Island seagrass, the current threats to its survival, and what we can do to save this vital habitat. At the end of her talk, she took questions from the community.

It was wonderful to see how engaged the community is in understanding our seagrass beds.

If you missed Dr. Vaudrey’s talk or just want to enjoy it again, you can follow this link to watch her whole talk.

We want to hear from you! Contact our project coordinator here or at fishersislandseagrass@gmail.com with any of your questions, comments, or concerns.
